Arc Flash Hazard Analysis |
|
More and more, due to the severe consequences up to fatalities, Arc flash hazard is made aware to everyone in today's society.
In Canada arc flash is addressed legislatively at both the provincial and federal levels. In Ontario, OHSA Occupational Health & Safety Act sets out responsibility on employers to "take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers".
To have your facilities assessed for arc flash hazard is your first essential step to meet these legislative requirements and protect your employee. From arc flash hazard study Sunicon conducted, you will be informed in analysis report:
* The potential arc flash hazard for which the equipment worker is working on * The incident energy exposure for a worker’s chest and face if an arc flash occurs * The level of PPE (personal protective devices) a worker must wear based on the possible incident energy exposure. * The flash protection boundaries When the work must be proceeded on or near energized equipment, or such equipment can be energized at any time, a flash hazard analysis shall be completed, and at the result of analysis, the permanent warning labels containing all pertinent information listed above shall be applied to all the electrical equipment.
